About Sydney Kasahara
Sydney K. is an independent producer, director, editor and sound designer from Los Angeles. She is also the CEO of Rickety Wheels Productions. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz as a double major in Literature and Film, with honors and awards in both her fields. During her undergraduate career, she worked on around 50 films both of student and professional genres, 30 of those having been her own personal works. Sydney never stopped working, even over the summers between college, taking summer courses and programs at schools such as the New York Film Academy and UCLA.
In her senior year at UCSC, Sydney won the Eli Hollander Aspiring Filmmaker award for her work as an undergraduate with the most creative and individual voice in her filmmaking year, and used the resources awarded to her to create her senior thesis film “Thank You, Janet,” which then became an Official Selection as a Semi-Finalist in the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival in 2017/2018. “Thank You, Janet” and an adaptation of its screenplay, ‘They Burn Yellow’ also won the 13Horror Screenplay and Film Contest in 2018 as Finalists. ‘They Burn Yellow’ is now published as an eBook on Amazon Kindle as a result of the 13Horror contest. Even her sound work, under the name Jusqua’au Bout, has garnered attention through its broadcast in the 2017 International Radiophrenia Sound Festival based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sydney is an independent producer with her most recent works, Intelligentia and the Shifter Series, both going on to receive success in the film festival circuit. As of 2019, she is producing a reality TV series based in West Hollywood.
